Teacher Training and Early Careers Teachers

Are you thinking about a career in teaching? Do you have a degree?

At the Basildon Academies, we provide an Assessment Only (AO) pathway to achieve QTS, as well as an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme. We welcome applications from individuals at all stages of their career and are committed to supporting you throughout your journey.

In recent years, we've seen significant and consistent growth in student enrolment. As a result, we're excited to expand our teaching team with several new openings for September across most subject areas, and we are always eager to welcome talented Early Career Teachers.

We are proud to partner with NESTT (Norfolk, Essex, and Suffolk Teacher Training) to offer trainee teacher placements at our school. The Harrison Teaching School Hub is our delivery partner, and Harris Institute serves as the Awarding Body for our Early Career Teachers.

Our training routes

Assessment Only (AO)

The AO route is a way to obtain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) but without the need to complete a formal teacher training program. The AO route is intended for those with a significant teaching experience background, possess the abilities and understanding needed to teach but have yet to attain QTS.

Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

An Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme is a structured course designed to prepare individuals to become teachers and achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS); this is the first step in the professional development of someone who wants to teach in a school.
