Miss Morris

Hi, I am Miss Morris, and I am an ECT 1 in the Humanities department of Basildon Academies.

I still remember my first day at Basildon Academies as an ITT, feeling both nervous and excited to begin my journey into teaching. I was greeted with a warm welcome and made to feel part of a community by staff and greeted with kindness by students.

What I love most is the sense of growth every day. Every lesson is an opportunity to improve, and I’m constantly learning from my colleagues, mentors, and of course, my students. The support I’ve received through training programs and regular feedback has been invaluable in building my confidence and competence as a teacher.

As with all work there have been moments of doubt—times when I felt overwhelmed or unsure of my decisions—but I’ve learned to view these challenges as part of the process. The community within the school has been incredibly supportive, offering guidance and encouragement when things feel tough. I now feel much more confident in my ability to inspire and engage students and feel more confident taking on challenges.

I can truly say that being an ECT has been a fulfilling and transformative experience. I’m excited for the years ahead. It has been an honour to have the opportunity to work with such brilliant young people and supportive staff.
