How will we support you?

Whilst on placement, you are supported by Tutors and a department-based Mentor who will guide you in becoming analytical and reflective about your own practice.

You will receive a personalised programme, high-quality face-to-face training, and peer support.

After completing teacher training, every member of staff becomes an Early Career Teacher (ECT) and begins a two-year induction period. The purpose of this induction period is to support newly qualified teachers as they transition into fully effective classroom practitioners.

Every ECT is assigned both a Mentor and an Induction Tutor; these members of staff will be more experienced, and will offer guidance, support, and feedback throughout.

ECTs undergo regular observations and assessments, and are given a reduced timetable to facilitate their professional learning and development. This allows the ECT, Mentor and Induction Tutor to reflect and comment on strengths and areas for development.
