Enhanced Provision

What we do

At the Basildon Academies Trust (BAT), we have a fully inclusive ethos. We run our own in-house Enhanced Provisions to provide SEMH support for young people in line with Trauma Perceptive Practice principles.

All students in the provisions have access to a key worker who will be responsible for their journey on the EP pathway. Where curriculum content is being delivered and One Planning suggests it is time for mainstream transition, EP students will have access to high quality teaching via subject specialists. This may be in the EP or in mainstream classrooms.

Key workers are members of SEND staff who can support in class, in mainstream and through touch base sessions. All EP staff are involved in the assess, plan, do, review process for students.

Key leaders from each centre within the provision will attend fortnightly BAT provisions panels to review student progress and plan for reintegration into mainstream. New referrals are also considered through this panel process.

The Director of Enhanced Provisions leads as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and SENCO for students under the care of the EP. They are supported by Centre Leads who are Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads for the EP.

The teams work collaboratively with SENCOs and DSLs from their referring schools, including those within the BAT.

There are a team of teaching assistants, student development champions and attendance officers that support the provision directly. These staff are trained to support students with SEMH needs, understanding the reasonable adjustments they require.

Staff in the EP have access to universal training in line with BAT staff. They also have access to specialist CPD, such as:

  • Autism Education Trust resources
  • Thrive online
  • Positive handling training
  • Essex Local Authority SEND training
  • Qualifications in SEMH, ASD, ADHD
  • Careers related learning qualifications
  • IOSH accreditation
  • Mental health training
  • Trauma Perceptive Practice courses
